About Gwyn Carless at the Light Yard
In the spring of 2020 The Light Yard and after a collaboration with master craftsman Gwyn Carless lasting nearly 10 years, the pair have cemented their relationship with a rebrand. This new identity reflects their exclusive partnership with the entire range of bespoke handcrafted lighting now being manufactured from Gwyns Derbyshire-based studio. The two have worked together to build one of the north west’s most innovative businesses, furnishing bespoke fixtures for commercial and residential builds across the UK, Europe and as far afield as the island of Maui in the US state of Hawaii.
Their commitment to quality is evident using the best quality materials and components and 2020 sees the launching of two additional collections to come out of their studio. In addition to their well established Alchemist Collection of handcut glass shades, the pair have added a new highly decorative and versatile Calex Collection of unique IP44 bathroom rated pendants and wall lights and The Café Racer collection features a series of distinctive and playful designs inspired by the 1960s British rock scene with its uniquely irreverent and rebellious café racer motorbike subculture.
