Alice has been designing and making jewellery for over twenty years and running her own jewellery business since 2005. She trained at Central St Martins graduating in 1990 with a BA (Hons) degree in jewellery design. She went on to work for Dinny Hall and John Donald, as well as gaining experience in sales and marketing roles in other industries.
After moving to the country and starting a family the benefits of starting her own jewellery brand became apparent. Alice is now well known in the Sussex area and sells her work direct from the studio and website as well as from local and London fairs. She is also a member of the Sussex Guild.
Alice produces a new collection every year as well as constantly updating and developing existing collections. Drawing inspiration from natural forms and naturally occuring geometries, Alice also loves mid century design and is influenced by the use of similar reference points in fabrics and prints of that time.
Its also important to Alice to retain the quirkiness of the handmade. "A design may be geometric but the inexactness of the handmade process gives a unique feel that is lost in the mass produced or computer generated object. Its my aim to create simple, elegant and tactile pieces that are accessible, wearable and ultimately timeless".
Alice undertakes commissions and remodelling of older pieces (specialising in stone setting) as well as teaching one day a week in her lovely Sussex garden studio.
