The story behind the brand, who is Ailish H?

Ailish has worked within the arts for over a decade, creating mixed media and textile-based pieces with a narrative edge.  Her work has been accredited by many magazines including Embroidery and Selvedge. She has had two solo exhibitions to date, one in London.  She traveled with her work to Rome last year for Rome Art week, which she was a part of.  Currently she has turned her attention to creating print designs from her originals, flourishing in range for Fashion and Interiors.  She began producing luxury silk scarves; now she is branching out to Wallpaper, cushion covers and lampshades.  Her work is represented online by Handmade Britain and her own website.  One of her key designs has become a part of The Royal Academy of Art's permanent shop collection, which can be found in Burlington House, London.

From original to digital

Every piece made by Ailish is developed from her original artwork. Having accumulated a wealth of originals, she sought a method to allow the work to be observed by a larger audience. Using fine art photography along with specialized scanning methods, she was able to capture the work and present it as a digital file. These files are then used to create her ranges, from printed textile items such as scarves, to ones more suited to interiors, cushions, wallpaper and lampshades becoming her main non-wearable lines.

Location

As a perfectionist, Ailish has direct contact with all the suppliers of her products, which are all sourced as locally as possible. Her wallpapers are handmade in the North of England, her Lampshades in London and her Cushions in Edinburgh. As the control behind the brand, Ailish will only use natural materials such as Silk, handmade paper and Cotton.
