Planar Shelving System by Group Design
Planar is a shelving system designed around the principles of flexible, adaptable storage and a simplicity of construction and manufacturing. It offers versatile, durable storage for the home and office and is ideal for the storage of books, files and magazines.
Cut from 2mm sheet steel, the brackets are folded into an angular form that provides optimum strength and rigidity with a minimum of material. Accentuated by the warm tones of the bamboo, the folds create an interplay of light and shadow between the different planes.
Bamboo is used for the shelving as it is a fast growing and sustainably sourced material, which is structurally very hard yet also lightweight. The shelves are treated with a wax-oil to create a warm and durable finish. They are naturally stain resistant, and any marks can be simply sanded out and re-oiled.
Each unit is supplied flat and assembly is simple; allen-key furniture bolts screw through the top and bottom of each bracket, into the pre-drilled holes in the shelves. Feet are supplied pre-fixed to the bottom shelf.
Designed and made in East London.
