Devon Duvets

Product Information

These sumptuous woollen mattress toppers are the best in helping achive a great nights sleep as they add approximately 4cm of added comfort to your bed and many people find this very comfortable. Whilst our wool mattress toppers cannot take the place of a good mattress, they will certainly give an added softness to a firm mattress and relieve pressure points.

These wool mattress toppers have also shown to be succesful in dispersing the heat that some mattresses can radiate back up to the body as the topper spreads the heat before it penetrates a heat reflecting mattress.

Each topper is individually handcrafted by our seamstresses in England using natural materials to create a high quality product.

The wool mattress topper is filled with our sustainable, platinum British wool (approx 1000gsm) and encased in 100% soft cotton. This cotton casing is woven especially for Devon Duvets to support the breathability of the dense wool and is brushed on both sides to create a soft feel and a higher resistance to sliding on the mattress.

Broad elastic straps are fastened to each corner of the wool mattress topper, providing a flexibility for differing depths of mattress.

The unique natural properties of wool resist dust mites and can help to relieve the symptoms of allergies or asthma. Wool is also naturally breathable, helping to keep warm in the Winter and cool in the Summer and is therefore perfect for all seasons.

Our Toppers are easy to care for, turn regularly on the bed and use both sides. To keep fresh, simply hang outside to air.

About the Supplier

Husband and wife team Dick and Pauline Beijen bought their flocks of sheep during the summer of 2008 as the first step into their idea of creating high quality, natural British wool duvets; the challenge being to develop a high quality duvet that draped and behaved as a duvet should. The original wool duvet.

After more than a year of development work, the latter part of which was filmed by Channel 4 with Monty Don in his series 'My Dream Farm', Devon Duvets was born.

Care & Maintenance

To keep your wool duvet clean and allow the duvet to breathe and wick away moisture, we advise you to use a duvet cover that is a 100% natural fibre.

Regular Care - We recommend that you regularly air your wool duvet to keep it fresh, hanging over a bannister or clothes rail in between bedding changes. On a sunny, breezy day we recommend that you hang your duvet outside to allow the natural antibacterial properties of wool to refresh and keep your duvet in first class condition.

Deeper Clean - If a deeper clean does become necessary, even though the wool in our duvets has NOT been chemically treated, all of our wool duvets can be machine washed on a wool setting using a detergent that is kind to natural fibres (wool care). Spin dry well to release any excess water as wool that is saturated will not dry well. The quality of our British Platinum grade wool and the unique construction of our duvets means that chemical treatment is not necessary to make them machine washable (with care of course) after all, sheep have been getting wet since there has been rain!

Drying - air dry only. You cannot apply heat or tumble dry our wool duvets and wool pillows as the wool has not been coated with the chemicals needed to make this possible but you can hang them out to air dry.
